A bit about me.

Hey, my name's James Stittle (Stan to some). I'm a photographer, cinematographer and filmmaker with 20 years experience creating images – both moving and still. I've worked all over the world on all kinds of projects and subjects.

These days, finding myself exhausted by a compulsion to use ever "better" modern technology and frustrated with the heavily edited and fake visual world, I decided to go the other way – back to what made me fall in love with documenting my world. Now, I only take film photographs. They provide something that digital images will never capture. They have feelings that will live long after they were taken. Nostalgia, memory, warmth, texture, energy, honesty and truth are shown by an image captured on film. But they're also timeless...

I capture life as it is, showing places as they were in that moment, or capturing something of the true self of a person. I'm open to commissions for landscapes, travel and documentary and also offer portraits/headshots of people and pets.

I hate being photographed, so I approach this in a way that I'd feel comfortable with, keeping things relaxed. I always prefer to shoot somewhere you love to be – your home, your office, a local park or just a favourite place you feel at your most comfortable.

I use natural light where possible but I'm also experienced with lighting. I've spent years working on narrative film and video projects, so if you fancy something more dramatic or surreal, I'm up for creating that, too. But won't airbrush or do heavy touch-ups, for me this defeats the object of using film.
